THE INDEPENDENT CEMETERY is one of eight separately-managed offices responsible for administering the various sections of Rookwood Cemetery. Originally formed as an amalgamation of the Presbyterian, Methodist, Wesleyan, and Lutheran offices, Rookwood Independent now caters for a much larger number of denominations, as listed on our “Sections” page.
The other offices of Rookwood Cemetery are: Rookwood Necropolis Trust, Australian War Graves, Catholic Cemetery Board, Anglican & General Cemetery Trust, Jewish Cemetery Trust, Muslim Cemetery Trust, Memorial Gardens & Crematorium.

Although the office will be closed on Public Holidays, the Cemetery Grounds will remain open from sunrise to sunset, 7 days a week, as usual.
Rookwood Independent Cemetery now administers the records and current burials for the Greek, Baptist and Methodist Sections of Field of Mars Cemetery at Ryde. You can use the Deceased Search link on this website to search for burials from these sections of Field of Mars.

Rookwood Cemetery (officially named Rookwood Necropolis) is the largest multicultural necropolis in the Southern Hemisphere, located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
